I’ve always been an active woman who was content and accepting of the way I looked. I enjoyed life, and it never significantly bothered me that I was on the upper end of the regular clothing sizes found in stores. “This is me” so I thought. Size 14-16 (a 12 on a good day, depending on the brand!) Then I became a mom. At the “tender” age of 36.
Wanting to remain active with my child during maternity leave, I Googled “ Stroller Fit, Hamilton” and up popped “Fit4Females”. Hmmm, close enough to where I lived. Ok, I will give it a try. And my life became changed forever.
I began attending the Friday Stroller Fit Class over 4 years ago when my first born was 8 weeks old. I had put on 53lbs during pregnancy, and hoped to eventually return to my former weight. But more importantly, I needed to get active.
Those first few classes were a bit intimidating-this awesome looking woman (who had 3 young kids but never looked it) as the trainer, my false sense of “being fit” myself (holding a plank on my knees for 30 secs was like running a marathon), and these other mommies who seemed to know each other so well. (plus add in a breastfeeding infant who needed to feed halfway through class no matter what)…well, it look a lot of strength to keep coming! But soon, things started to “click”. That trainer started calling me by name, and giving me personal pointers in class, even though it was a group class. I started hearing her message “Be the best YOU, you can be-don’t compare yourself to others”. Those other mommies began chatting with me and I found out that they were going through some of the same things as me—I wasn’t the only CRAZY mommy out there! And so I persevered.
By taking only one class a week, I returned to my pre-pregnancy weight when my daughter was 10 months old. Yes, ONE class a week. How? Trina gives you the means to “do it yourself”. She gives ideas on how to incorporate exercise into everyday life with your kids. She has monthly challenges on her website (FREE!). She uses social media to reach out daily to you to remind you, support you, challenge you because each and every member is important to her and YOU ARE WORTH IT. She is human,-honest with her feelings and the challenges that life brings. She doesn’t make you feel less than if you aren’t “perfect” –she gives you the support and encouragement to take a step toward better. She cheers your successes and believes in you when you may not believe in yourself. She is not just a trainer. She is a life coach who happens to love fitness!
But my story doesn’t end there. Far from it. At that 10 month mark, I was blessed to find out I was expecting again! This time round, I was much more active during my pregnancy, and mindful of my eating habits. (Oh yeah, still indulged, I’m no saint!) I gained just 22 lbs this time round. Not that weight gain is reflective of much, but still, it was a very different pregnancy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend classes during this time as work had to come first. But I remained connected via Trina’s website, blog, facebook page, and newsletter! And I was back in that Friday stroller Fit class when my second born was 6 weeks old! And this time, I don’t know WHAT happened, but I lost another 45 lbs! Not only did I lose the baby weight, but another 23 lbs beyond that!! And I have kept it off for over 2 years! This is the NEW me! I am now wearing size 8 to 10- sizes I have NEVER remembered buying as an adult. I am able to hold a plank on my toes for over 2 minutes. I have upper body strength I’ve never had (some kudos goes to those 2 kids of mine for that though!) . I CRAVE coming to class. I have reworked my work schedule so I can attend Friday classes, not just for the workout, but to see the friends I have gained over the years at class. I ran the Fit4Females 5km last year, and I am NOT a runner!
My journey with Fit4Females is ongoing. I can’t wait to see where it leads me, and am completely enjoying the ride along the way! Where will your Journey with us lead you???

Trina, I just wanted to say that I love your class so much! I have seen a great improvment in myself. I have lost 12.2 lbs. since I started and have lost inches all over. Thanks so much for everything you do!

I first joined Trina’s classes after I had a baby. I had gained close to 80 lbs and I was suffering from a mild case of post partum depression. I was urged to get out and find something to do for myself. I came across Trina and Fit4Females. I joined her evening Boot Camp classes and was hooked after the first class. Once those sessions were done I joined her Stroller Classes as well as the night Boot Camp classes. No two classes were ever the same. When Trina started talking about a 5k run that she was looking for team mates for, I signed up. Never before had I run a 5k. Just 6 weeks after that conversation I was running the 5k. With her constant encouragement, nutrition tips, and everything else in between I went back to work 80 lbs lighter and in a size smaller than I was before I had my baby. Now, eight months after returning to work, I’m still taking her classes and I’ve kept the weight off and even lost a bit more. I’ve never had more energy or felt this good about myself. And I may even “like” running. But just a little bit. Thanks Trina for all that you do!! You’re the best at it 🙂

Trina, I wanted to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your classes and how much I’m looking forward to our next session. After losing most of my lazy lifestyle and excess food weight on my own, I decided to try Trina’s Cardio Boot Camp to see how much I could challenge my body further. I joined Fit4Females in June 2010 and after a year of classes, I have brought my weight loss to 40lbs and dropped to a size 8 from a size 16. I have noticed great changes in myself, mentally and physically over the past year. One of the most important changes has been in my job. I work with special needs children and lift a 40lb wheelchair bound student several times per day. I am so much stronger during those lifts and I’m not as tired by the end of the day. I love being able to give even more of me to the kids. It is truly the icing on the cake.

“ Trina is so passionate about what she does that her passion is contagious. After I had my second child 9 months ago I returned to Stroller Fitness with a goal to get fit and lose my baby weight from both pregnancies. I joined 3 Stroller classes per week and began watching what I ate. With the help of Trina and her FABULOUS classes, her continuous motivation, her knowledge about getting fit and good nutrition I have reached my goal. In 7 months I have lost 25 pounds, can run 3-4 laps around the gym without feeling like I am dying and can even do 10+ pushups. Trina, I just wanted to say thank you for making such a difference in my life. It has been the first time in years that people have commented on how “in shape” I look. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I found out about your classes and have made the commitment to doing classes 4 times a week. You are an exceptional instructor and truly inspire all of us. I have taken numerous different classes over the years and can honestly say that I get the most out of yours. I love that there is something different each class and that you target our entire bodies.

I had my second baby 9 months before and had success losing some of the weight. I was feeling okay but had hit a plateau and was definitely not in my “skinny jeans”. The Fit4Females Biggest Loser challenge helped me get back on track. I am a competitive and determined person and I set a goal early that I wanted to win…not just lose weight but win.
Over the 6 weeks, I lost 23.2 lbs, 12.12% of my body weight, my waist became the size my thighs use to be and I went from a size 12-14 to a size 8-10, my skinny jeans are now too big and I can hold a plank for over a minute on my toes. I can say for sure that I am now in the best shape of my life.
I won first prize which included the cash pot and a 250 dollar gift certificate to Fit4Females. But to be honest, the prize wasn’t even the best part…the best part was the support I received during the competition. The ladies in Trina’s classes are amazing and they were coming up to me in every class congratulating me on my progress and cheering me on. They were working out hard and pushing me to do the same.
I want to express a sincere thank you to all you fabulous Fit4Females ladies. If you are considering joining the challenge or signing up for Trina’s class…do it! Do it now! I didn’t know anyone before joining my first class and Trina fosters a supportive and inclusive group of ladies.

Trina changed my attitude regarding fitness. She taught me how to properly lift weights and we trained together for months for my first ever 5 km race. I can’t believe I completed it and now I am addicted to running. I would never have considered myself to be a runner and I certainly would not have taken the initiative to lift weights and work out on my own. I owe it all to my personal training sessions with her. She is truly an inspiration to us all!

Thanks to your Stroller Programs and Mom and Baby classes I was able to get the exercise that I needed and was able to spend time with my children without finding a sitter. Trina, your motivation and push to join the running clinic coupled with training in your classes gave me the encouragement to keep running and helped me to complete my first 30km race. You are so encouraging no matter what our fitness level and you push us to set and reach our goals. Cardio Boot Camp is a great class that kicks my butt and it makes me feel like I’ve done something good for myself and for my heath. Thanks so much.
I joined Fit4Females after having two babies 18 mos apart. I was introduced to Trina’s Stroller Fitness class and right away I was hooked.
F4F gives you a support system of other moms, constant nutritional advice, self esteem boosts, stress relief and a better self image. What makes Fit4Females the very best is our trainer Trina Medves, and she is the BEST!
Trina spends time after class talking, advising and supporting clients with questions, concerns and suggestions for anything nutrition, health and workout related. Her dedication and sincere interest for her clients health and well being is evident everyday.
All of this is just icing on the cake to my personal results that come from her constant support in leading a healthier lifestyle. I have lost a total of 25 lbs. in 10 months. My biggest accomplishment was running my very first 5k….a task I NEVER thought I’d achieve!
I stronger and leaner and without Fit4Females I would never have accomplished any of my health and fitness goals! I cannot say enough positive things about Fit4Females and Trina Medves!!
