I am a busy mom of three and my life is crazy so I reached for clean soup! I was in a big pinch so I created my 10 ingredient lean and clean soup and I am sharing my video with you. There are times when I am in my kitchen after a really busy day, it’s supper time, and I wonder what to cook because I did not have a chance to grocery shop and it was just bad planning on my part.
10 Ingredient Lean and Clean Soup
I know there are probably other people in the kitchen in the same situation wondering what to cook! Any other bad planners and stressed out people in the world aside from me!? I whipped up a really quick meal that was clean, easy and only 10 ingredients! The best part it was that I made it with all of the ingredients that I had in my cupboard, and my kids devoured it!
Best Advice for Easy, Lean and Clean!
The reality is, you need to have a backup plan when you know life is busy. That’s it! You do not have to be perfect, you do not have to whip up these fancy recipes with a “sprig of this”, you just need to have stuff that is realistic for when the times get tough. I always try to keep things like unsalted canned tomatoes and beans in the house for days when I am busy, and I am tempted to order in. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t have a backup plan, it’s chaos!
Lean and Clean What you Need:
I try to eat less processed food whenever possible and this is what I came up with….
- Unsalted canned tomatoes
- Frozen or raw kale *gives it a pretty colour
- Chicpeas
- Navy beans
- Black beans
- Celery *not gonna lie, it was pretty limp at the back of the fridge
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil *do not heat at high temperatures
- Spices: cayenne pepper, cumin and garlic *whatever you have and like
Easy Clean and Lean Directions
I blended the canned tomatoes to make them less “chunky”… secretly because it’s the only way my daughter will eat them and added the cumin, cayenne pepper and garlic. I put it all in a pot and let it simmer! Simmering a little longer will allow more flavour. I did 45 minutes to 1 hour. Full protein, fat, fibre and healthy carbohydrates.

Take the challenge
I want to challenge you to create your own recipe. Don’t be scared in the kitchen. Just put some things together and test them out. It’s the difference between having a bad day and making a bad choice. If I had a frozen pizza, I might have popped it in, and there is nothing wrong with that, don’t beat yourself up. But you want to try to fuel your body by eating healthy the majority of the time.
