We’ve got an amazing Sweet, Salty and Spicy Protein Trail Mix that was a huge hit at our Fit4Females 11 Year Anniversary Boot Camp Party.  Created by Ashley @realroots this is an incredible protein treat to feed yourself and your family.  If you have nut allergies, replace the nuts with any seed of your choice.  Feel free to create your own.

Sweet & Salty Protein Trail Mix Recipe

This protein filled snack with healthy fats is great as a quick grab and go replacement to your chips, chocolates and other drive through snacks.  Make ahead, save money and fuel your body with everything it needs.

Ingredients:

1 cup of organic banana chips
3/4 cup raw pecans
3/4 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds
3/4 cup plain salted dried chickpeas (can find in health section snack isle)
2.5 tbsp pure maple syrup
2.5 tbsp olive or avocado oil
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp cayenne

1/2 tsp of each of the following 

chilli powder
garlic powder
smoked paprika
cumin
Pre heat oven to 350. In a large bowl mix together the banana chips, pecans, almonds, pumpkin seeds and dried chickpeas then set aside. In a smaller bowl whisk together the oil, maple syrup, salt and all spices. Pour over nut mixture and stir until very well coated. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spread until evenly distributed. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until toasty in colour making sure to stir every 10 minutes.

Take my 6 Tips for a Clean Kitchen Challenge.  All of the ingredients above are staples for your kitchen because they are clean and healthy. Before you get started towards replacing foods towards a healthier you, take a good look at your kitchen, the fridge, what’s hiding in your cupboards, the packed pantry – and replace all things that might tempt you.

Start small and replace them with better food choices!  They are not off limits but rather renting up space in a body that doesn’t need them.  Replace vegetable or canola oil with organic extra virgin olive (cold pressed) oil or coconut oil.

Mini steps champ!  Replace items with too much added sugar, reduce processed food, trash old expired items, organize it so it looks inspiring and makes you happy when you open the fridge, cupboard or pantry. These are helpful tips for you to get back on track!
