Tell us why you joined Fit4Females?
After giving birth to my son I couldn’t wait to be active again. Once I was able to exercise my husband and I tried to schedule time for me to get to the gym, but with his shift work and a newborn it was so inconsistent and unpredictable. I had heard about Fit4Females from some friends and decided to give it a try. I loved that I had the opportunity to make my exercise a priority again and that I could include my baby.
What thoughts did you have before joining Fit4Females?
I thought I would have no time for me and for exercise. I thought it was going to be really difficult to not only shed the baby weight but also include fitness in my regular routine again. All you hear when you have a baby is how your life is going to change and you will no longer have any time for yourself. But that was such a negative message. At Fit4Females we talk about how you may have to make some changes or modifications to what you used to do, but with a positive attitude and some flexibility you can accomplish any goals you set. Exercise makes me smile and gives me energy. It is something that I really enjoy and that I want to share with my son. Trina has encouraged us to feel good about making ourselves a priority because if we are not happy and healthy then we are not being the best we can be for our kids.
Tell us about your first Fit4Females workout
To be honest, I went back right at the 6 week mark and I had to do some modifications. I was used to high impact exercise so it was challenging for me to take it easy and let my body heal before I could fully participate. However I am SO GLAD that I took the time to see Trina and let her assess my post baby body so that I was able to make smart decisions when it came to my fitness. She gave me great exercises to work on so that I could build strength. I know if I went right back to the gym with no guidance I would have pushed myself too far and would probably have ended up with a diastasis or something. And now I love the energy of the classes, the support, and the friendships I have made. Every class is different and a wonderful workout! I used to mostly stick to cardio because the weights at the gym were a little intimidating and I didn’t know where to start. But at Fit4Females they incorporate both weights and cardio for an amazing workout and of course the battle ropes! And now I also enjoy doing the night classes after I’ve put my son to bed I can head over for a baby free workout.
Why do you love Fit4Females and the Team Leaders?
Everyone is so welcoming and encouraging! Gyms can be intimidating and lonely. Sometimes before you go to the gym you have to give yourself the “pep talk” to motivate yourself to go but going to Fit4Females is almost like going out for a coffee with the girls. You all meet up, share tons of laughs, exchange advice, share recipes, and vent about sleepless nights. Just instead of lattes and cookies your doing burpees and squats!
What improvements have you made since joining Fit4Females?
Trina incorporates a lot of coaching into her dialogue throughout the classes. So not only has my body become stronger so has my mind. I am comfortable in my own skin, I set goals for myself, I leave class feeling motivated and encouraged. And also my pre-pregnancy clothes fit again, even better than before, so that’s nice too.
Any encouraging advice you can share with our Readers?
Don’t be afraid to make yourself a priority. There are so many benefits to incorporating physical activity into your daily routine for both you and your family. Make sure you take time to stop and make sure you are taking care of yourself. Self care is not selfish.
