Tell us WHEN and WHY you joined Fit4Females

I joined Fit4Females Stroller Classes in January 2017, when my son was 6 months old and fell in love with the class!  I am a first time Mom and my pregnancy did not play out the way I had imagined.  There were complications from 4 months on and spent the better part of my pregnancy on bed rest.  

This left me feeling sluggish and weak, but my pregnancy turned out to be a beautiful success and I’m thankful everyday for my son Gavin.  After I fully recovered from giving birth in July and ate my way through all the yummiest holidays, my bestie, Jami-Lee and I, decided that we needed to get moving in the new year and what better way than with our babes in a Stroller Fitness class!  

It was challenging at first, but it was a challenge that I embraced and was proud to be a part of!

Tell us about your first Fit4Females workout and what made you stick with us

My first class was definitely more difficult than I anticipated, but at the same time it felt AMAZING to stretch and strengthen muscles that I hadn’t activated in a long time!  The thing that I’ll always remember from my first class is how empowering Trina was.  

She reminded all of us tired Moms that we have already done incredible things with our bodies by making little humans and that we deserve to put ourselves first in order to better care for them.  Any program that recognizes your strengths and encourages you to strive for more, is a program that I want to stick with!

Why do you love Fit4Females and the Team Leaders?

I love Fit4females because of the sense of community.  All the women that participate are approachable and encouraging to one another.  In the Stroller Fitness class, the Team Leaders motivate you to meet other people in your class through partner workouts and generating discussion while power walking with your strollers during warm up.  

The Team Leaders work hard to create clear and concise workout plans that test your limits, but also allows you to have the best workout possible.

What has Fit4Females done to go above and beyond?

I appreciate Fit4Females focus and education on postpartum recovery.  I was not familiar with diastasis recti, or the exercises that can be detrimental to a woman’s recovery if she has this condition.  This was not a part of my own recovery, but I appreciate the knowledge that I have now.  F4F goes above and beyond by helping its members grow physically and mentally.

What has been your biggest non-scale win since joining Fit4Females?

My biggest win since joining F4F is the physical strength and muscle that I have gained.  I also feel energized after a workout and that is a nice feeling when it happens naturally and not after a few cups of coffee!

Any encouraging advice you can share with our Readers that are not putting themselves first or nervous to join?

I have never done a fitness class before I started with F4F!  They were always intimidating to me because I’m not very “athletically inclined”, but I took a chance and jumped into a Stroller Fitness class with both feet and don’t regret it for a second!  It was nice to have a friend to go with, but it was also nice to mingle and meet some new friends too!  Stroller Fitness class is very accommodating and supportive for mothers with babies and children.  

If your baby is fussy during the workout, the Team Leader might pitch in and walk your stroller around, so you can focus on getting a great workout.  This class also gave me a reason to get up and get out of the house every week, which is something every mom can look forward too!

Share your best “make it happen” FIT Tip

I love to procrastinate, but there is no better time to start taking care of yourself than right now!  Just get up and go and you’ll be glad you did!

What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days?

I’d like to focus on finding a balance between family, work and self care that best suits my needs.  I want to be successful in each aspect.
