Courage is showing up at the starting line even when you don’t believe in yourself. Today we celebrate Sue, one of our incredible members and this line really sticks. As women, we beat ourselves up, we get jealous of others, feel small, we are judgmental and so hard on ourselves. If we could just have more courage by showing up at the starting line and letting go, imagine what we would accomplish. Take care of yourself and the rest will follow. Let Sue’s inspiring story be the help you need to make it happen and believe in yourself. We are so proud to feature her.

Tell us WHEN and WHY you joined Fit4Females
I joined Fit4Females over 2 years ago. I was at my son’s hockey game and saw all these women wearing “Strong is the New Skinny” t-shirts. Immediately curious about the logo, I searched the website and discovered this amazing woman’s Boot Camp program. From that moment I needed to find out more! As a way to stay fit after my kids were born, I started running. However, I found myself injured and lacking time to get those big runs accomplished. What I was really seeking was a way to stay fit and active but not spend hours doing it. I needed a change from my routine but was very skeptical.
Tell us about your first Fit4Females workout and what made you stick with us
At my first Fit4Females class, I remember it was a very welcoming atmosphere. Trina asked everyone to introduce themselves and provide a reason for attending the class. She also stated that she never puts up with any member putting another down in any way. That really resonated with me because body shaming and bullying can be so pervasive among women. At a regular gym, you are anonymous. At Fit4Females you are included and valued at every class.
Why do you love Fit4Females and the Team Leaders?
At Fit4Females you are part of a sisterhood, gifted women coming together to laugh, sweat and be vulnerable. The Team Leaders get to know you, will constantly correct your form and make sure you are getting the most out of the exercises. They push you to do your best each time you come to class and give a little bit more. No slacking off! The exercises are challenging but can be easily modified. I do appreciate the goal setting or fitness testing sessions.
What has Fit4Females done to go above and beyond?
Each time you are in a class, it’s like a therapy session. Trina will remind you that you need to take care of yourself and take time each day to celebrate life. As busy women, we often put ourselves last and feel stressed out. While participating in a class, you can do something good for yourself while smashing balls, boxing, or doing buddy runs. I tend to neglect my stretching, but this part is the most important part!
What has been your biggest non-scale win since joining Fit4Females?
The Fit4Females website, blogs, recipes and live sessions really keep me motivated to make better nutrition choices. I really do feel more positive about many aspects of my life.
Here’s your chance to brag about your wins!
As my hormones crash into the inevitable perimenopause phase, I have maintained my strength and fitness levels. I even completed another 10 km race with a decent time (for me-thanks hubby).
Any encouraging advice you can share with our Readers that are not putting themselves first or nervous to join?
We really can’t give our best to others when we don’t take time for ourselves. I am reminded of that during each class. I still struggle with that work/life/self balance and tend to burn myself out. However, the Team Leaders and Trina always coach us to make those right decisions and be gentle with ourselves. There isn’t really a reason to be nervous to join, when you are greeted by a bunch of friendly and supportive women.
Share your best “make it happen” FIT Tip
Write it down. When you write a goal down, it tends to come to life. This suggestion is not only for fitness but even life goals.
What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days?
I make poor nutrition choices when I am tired! So my goals include better sleep and less sugar!
