Updated Nov 24, 2025. Banana Chia Oat Jars are a healthy, clean, quick grab-and-go breakfast or snack. Prep them the night before for smoother mornings. In the colder months, I love warming this recipe for a cozy, protein-packed oatmeal breakfast. These oats are full of protein, healthy carbs, fat, and fibre — filling, nourishing, and budget-friendly. For an extra boost of protein, I added a clean, kid-safe protein powder (my favourite protein powder.) Grab more recipes in Trina’s Kitchen here.
Banana Chia Oat Jars Recipe
Vegetarian, gluten and dairy-free, nut-free option
Oats — What to Use
Use unflavoured rolled oats, also known as quick oats. I prefer organic sprouted oats. Steel-cut oats don’t work for this recipe because they must be cooked first, but they’re a great option if you have time to cook them. If gluten is an issue, look for certified gluten-free oats since regular oats are often cross-contaminated.

Trina’s Tidbits:
My daughter and I created this recipe together. If it’s too thick, add more milk. Use your favourite fruit and toppings to customize it. It’s a balanced mix of protein, fat, fibre, and carbohydrates — perfect to start your day strong.
