Fit4Females is a strong community of women and we get real about our struggles.  Meet Taylor.  She has never shared her story about her struggle with anxiety.  Taylor is an inspiration and her story is admirable.  More people need to speak up because life is not perfect, there is not such thing as “normal” and it’s all about managing your own inner beast.

Tell us WHEN and WHY you joined Fit4Females

I joined Fit4Females 6 weeks postpartum with my first child. My reasoning for joining F4F was twofold – for my mental and my physical health. As a child and young woman I struggled with anxiety and was even medicated for it.  I knew having struggled with anxiety on and off throughout my life, I would be more susceptible to postpartum depression and I wanted to get a handle of my mood and overall well-being postpartum.  Physical fitness is a tool I use to help manage my anxiety.

The benefits of physical activity on my anxiety are nothing short of amazing.  Exercise works as medication in reducing my anxiety symptoms and allows me to be in the right mindset throughout the day for myself and for my family.  The second reason I joined F4F was for the physical benefits of exercise after having my first child.  My physical goals were to lose weight the healthy way and gain muscle.

Tell us about your first Fit4Females workout and what made you stick with us

As a former university basketball player I am very familiar with working out, the gym and getting my body to perform.  With that being said, after having an emergency c-section I needed an environment where I could be safe in my workouts postpartum.  I am a ‘Type-A’ personality and I knew if I worked out on my own I would push myself too far and too soon, and would not allow myself to heal properly.  My first workout at Fit4Females was a learning experience.  Trina modified my workout based on the number of weeks I was postpartum.  I learned and continue to learn what is safe for my body at the various stages of my recovery postpartum.  Trina’s knowledge of diastasis recti and pelvic floor health made me realize I was in the right place to be successful with transforming my body after having a baby.

Why do you love Fit4Females and the Team Leaders?

I love the Team Leaders at Fit4Females because their energy and passion is contagious.  They truly want the best for all their members and support them based on their individual goals.  They have extensive knowledge and modify workouts for all different fitness levels.  I always feel challenged and supported in classes.  The best part about the team leaders is that they are approachable.

What has Fit4Females done to go above and beyond?

Fit4Females goes above and beyond with their support system.  They support you during classes but also when you leave.  Trina’s emails, instagram account and Facebook groups help to support you in your health and fitness journey outside of the gym!

What has been your biggest non-scale win since joining Fit4Females?

I think my biggest win after joining Fit4Females has been learning to embrace positive talk.  We are definitely the most critical of ourselves and need to speak positively to ourselves more often.  I have made it my goal to say at least one positive comment to myself a day!

I am terrible at bragging about myself but I will brag about the fact that my body created the most beautiful human being, my son Xavier!

Any encouraging advice you can share with our Readers that are not putting themselves first or nervous to join?

After having my first child the best advice I received was at Fit4Females.  Trina told us that we have to be the number one priority in our lives.  If you are not the number one priority in your life and you are not fueling your body with proper nutrition, exercise, positive self talk etc.  you cannot take care of any one else.  This is something I struggled with after having my son however, as I have begun to prioritize myself over others I have become a better mom and wife because of it.  You cannot give to others if YOUR tank is running on empty!   So my fit tip is, make time for yourself and do not feel guilty about it.

Share your best “make it happen” FIT Tip

Just get to your first class.  The energy is addictive.  I have never regretted a workout once since joining Fit4Females.  I can show up exhausted, sore, overwhelmed etc.  however when I leave I always feel proud, energized and positive.  The hardest part is getting there, so put on your shoes and do not allow yourself to make excuses.

What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days?

In the next 90 days I want to see how much I can transform my body.  How much muscle and strength I can build.  I am raising a son and want to show him how strong women really are!
